This class will cover the basics of beekeeping via online video calls, classroom & hands-on training. Students are expected to attend all sessions to get maximum educational benefits.
A Pre-requisite for the Apprentice Class will be an "Introduction to Beekeeping" class that covers the basics needed for the beginning beekeeper. Certain certifications may have additional pre-requisites.
Students have option of earning certificates from several associations. Each has similar requirements and various fees. Each has a book, recommendation or requirement.
The Apprentice class is provided by a local Master Beekeeper and all fees will be paid to the instructor. A $10.00 donation will be recommended for covering the instructor's personal costs.

Attend apiary days (Spring, summer, Fall) 4-5 sessions

Take and Pass Test (Test Fee - $10)

Successfully complete the WASBA "Beginning Beekeeping" course and one year of keeping bees. (Test and certification - $30)

Take and pass the WASBA Apprentice Course Test (Test and Certification $35 fee)
This class will include 9 sessions covering the following areas:
Pre-requisite Class - Introduction to Beekeeping
**Session 1 – The Honeybee (anatomy, bee life, hive activity)
*Session 2 – Beekeeper Equipment (hives, suits, tools …)
**Session 3 – Beekeeper Activities (seasons activities)
*Session 4 – Bee Food (plants, sugar, water, pollen)
**Session 5 – Issues (pests, mites, disease)
*Session 6 – Products (honey, wax, pollination …)
Session 7 – Other (what else can we do)
Session 8 – Review as needed
